FRANKA ARBITRARY MOUNTING
Our vision: A humanoid robot platform for everyone.
Our starting point: Arbitrary tactile robot mounting.
Join us in this journey by taking the first steps together with us!
Apply below to become part of the Franka Arbitrary Robot Mounting Evaluation Phase to try this feature before it becomes publicly available.
What is the Franka Arbitrary Robot Mounting Evaluation Phase?
Every grand vision needs to start somewhere. The Franka Arbitrary Robot Mounting Evaluation Phase is the beginning of our journey on this path, together with selected evaluation phase participants.
Although there are many examples of Franka robots being used in humanoid configurations in research, translating that to a product offering is more complex. Moving two arms through space, or even one arm mounted on a wall or ceiling, with changing acceleration vectors and unexpected environmental factors, requires us to test and evaluate the system to be sure we can deliver a safe and certified product configuration to the general market.
As such, we will start by offering an evaluation phase for various mounting orientations and humanoid configurations during which anyone can apply to become part and test the prototype feature set.
How does it work?
Participants in the evaluation phase will be given 10 months in which they will be able to evaluate the arbitrary robot mounting feature. During this evaluation phase we will only request that participants provide structured feedback to Franka Robotics in the form of scheduled user interviews and reporting. We expect to have a defined timeline to product delivery before the end of the evaluation phase, ensuring that participants can continue their research and productization efforts beyond the evaluation phase.
Participation restrictions
Due to technical restrictions, it is not possible to use the previous generation of Franka Emika Robots in the evaluation phase. Participants must already either own one or more Franka Research 3 robots, or purchase them, to be able to activate the prototype feature.
How will participant selection work?
We will select participants on a first come, first served basis. Participation is limited due to the technical requirements of providing support for a prototype feature set. Preference will be given to use cases that match program goals and are capable within the framework of feature functionality. Ultimately, we will select participants based on a combination of factors: place in line, suitability for testing, use case match, geographic location, technical capabilities, and past successes or activities.
As such, please ensure you describe your use case well below so we can understand how it would fit to our evaluation phase needs.
